Roni Sidhu has a great video on YouTube called: “You Are A Better Photographer Than You Think“.
Roni is both a photographer and a photography instructor and he’s obviously lived the photography life and what he has to say here in his video will be immensely helpful if you’re a newcomer to photography.
On FaceBook we daily see new photographers buying equipment that’s way too sophisticated (and not to say expensive) for their needs. Or perhaps worse, we read some newcomers buying really basic equipment while claiming they want to start business shooting as a pro.
What Roni suggests is first you try shooting in different forms of photography as you learn your craft.
As I keep saying to newcomers that buying a camera doesn’t make you a photographer anymore than buying an airplane doesn’t make you a pilot. There’s a lot of learning that needs to be done before we can move on from novice to enthusiast to competent photographer and maybe even to artist.
Watch Roni’s video and listen to his wisdom about slowing down and making your photography much more intentional. His own photos are very good and worth seeing on their own. Here’s a link to his workshops.
