Walk On The Wild Side

The photographers at the Oakville Camera Club are planning a street photography workshop and walk coming up in March.

So what is street photography?

Despite what you might have heard it’s whatever you want it to be.

Street photography is an opportunity to walk around your community carrying your camera. Maybe you want to document your town or document your day. It doesn’t matter what the subject so long as it has some relevance for you.

For example I like to shoot graffiti and I especially like garage door art. I don’t know why but it looks nice to me. I often use my shots as screen shots on my computer. Maybe I should do a book of garage door photos?

Other street photographers shoot only people. This can be very intimidating for new photographers but it can also produce amazing iconic images. But you don’t have to do it. It may not be your form of street photography.
