No People Street Photography

On Saturday, March 29 I will be conducting a workshop on street photography in downtown Oakville. Anyone who is a member of the Oakville Camera Club can attend for free.

We will start at a local coffee shop and I’ll offer my thoughts on what is street photography and how to do it whether you’re shooting regardless of camera. Then we will take to the streets of Oakville to photography life in a small town west of Toronto.

When it comes to street photography a lot of new photographers think it’s about shooting candid or posed images of people on the street. And yes it can be that but street photography doesn’t depend on people being in the picture.

Here’s a thoughtful video from a street photographer, Sean Tucker, who offers his take about shooting street photography without the people in the shot.
