Organizing A Photo Walk

If you haven’t gone on one of Toronto’s photo walks, now is the time to show up.

Photo walks are volunteer run and open to all photographers from absolutely beginner to pros.

There’s nothing to be concerned about. The organizers pre-plan their walks that normally start around 9am at a Toronto coffee shop and around 10am the group sets off.

There are no expectations nor is there a right way or even a wrong way to do your walk and shoot your photos.

After about two hours of rambling through neighbourhoods, the walk will conclude at a restaurant or bar and an hour or so later we all go home.

It’s that simple.

The two walks I regularly do are organized by The Toronto Film Shooters (who shoot film) and The Toronto Photo Walk (who shoot everything else).

Marcus Lloyd has a nice video about how he organizes walks which he calls “Negroni Photo Walks” (see the video for why that name) on YouTube.

BTW we walk right through the Canadian winter (long underwear helps a lot) and Toronto with snow on the ground can become a magical place for street photography.
