Why Is Bird Photography So Darn Hard?

It looks easy. A lot of people do it. The equipment is available. There are lots of “how-to” videos online. So why oh why is bird photography so hard?

On Facebook there is no end to bad bird shots.

There are shots taken from too far away. Shots where there’s camera shake and everything is blurry. Shots where the bird is just a dot and doesn’t fill the frame.

Even the pros have problems shooting birds. In today’s video This Look Easy by photographer and videographer Yrsa you’ll see that even very good photographers struggle with bird photography.

So what’s the message?

Don’t despair. The simple answer is keep shooting. Practice, practice, practice and go where the birds are plentiful and maybe even a bit cooperative.
